Transport & Airports
Bern is located between the airports of Zurich (ZRH, 1:20 h by train), Geneva (GVA, 2 h by train) and Basel (BSL, 1:30 by bus/train). All three airports have direct connection to the public transport system. We recommend to book your railway/public transport ticket in advance at https://www.sbb.ch/en. Tickets can also be purchased at the counter or the ticketing machines. No seat reservation on trains is necessary.
From your very first overnight stay at a tourist accommodation in the city of Bern, you will receive a Bern Ticket for your entire stay, which lets you travel for free on public transport in zones 100/101 operated by the Libero Association.
Language
Official language of the IDF/ISO Analytical Week is English. Translation will not be provided.

Climate
In May, the weather in Bern is usually mild and spring-like, with average daily temperatures rising from around 16 to 20°C. There can be both sunny spells and cloudy days, and you can expect an average rainfall of around 12 cm spread over approximately 12 rainy days.
Electricity
Switzerland's standard plug norms are type J (3-pin grounded) and type C (2-pin ungrounded). The electrical system is 230V at 50 Hz. A travel adapter may be necessary depending on your device's plug type. Two-pins European plugs are compatible.
